Ah, fall – the other most wonderful time of the year! Bring out the sweaters, boots, warm pumpkin spice drinks and all things cozy. If you’re looking for fun ways to get into the fall spirit with the whole family, check out these four fall activities for kids in and around the Santa Clarita Valley.
Make your own fall treats.
Have you ever made your own apple cider? How about baking zucchini bread or apple crisp? All are fun and easy for kids to do, and, as a bonus, they make your home smell great! Kids can help out by washing the apples and measuring out different ingredients for the zucchini bread and apple crisp. Then sit back while your fall creations bake (or boil) and breathe in those autumnal aromas. Looking for even more natural fall scents? Try placing a cinnamon stick in a pot of boiling water and your home’s coziness factor will go way up.
Tell stories around a firepit.
Once you have your apple cider, why not enjoy it around a fire with loved ones while sharing stories? When you live at Skyline, a firepit that’s ripe for storytelling is right within the community at The Lookout, our action-packed amenity center. Gather around the cozy pit, apple cider in hand, and take in the sweeping views of the Santa Clarita Valley. To get everyone involved in the storytelling, try a round-robin style where each person makes up a different part of the story, with one person picking up where the other person before them left off. Don’t forget to bring a flashlight for a game of flashlight tag on the walk home – or for spooky stories.
Visit the Gilchrist Farm Pumpkin Patch.
Just over 6 miles up the road from Skyline is a fall pumpkin patch like no other. The Gilchrist Farm Pumpkin Patch is happening September 28 through October 31, every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Find your perfect pumpkin in the farm’s patch and pet all the animals at the petting zoo. On the weekends, visitors can enjoy live music, kettle corn, horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, fall crafts and more.
