Most traditional Halloween activities, like door-to-door trick-or-treating and costume parties, may not be an option this year, but the pandemic doesn’t have to keep us from safely enjoying some time-honored (and spooooky!) Halloween traditions. Fortunately, the homes and amenities at Skyline offer some monstrously great ways to celebrate. So before you ghost the holiday altogether, we have a few ideas to help you and your pod get your ghoul on.
Join the Skyline Halloween hijinx online and post photos of you and your gremlins. We’ll be judging only the individual person costume photos submitted to social media and awarding prizes for Most Creative, Scariest Costume, and Funniest Costume. Upload your pics to Facebook or Instagram, tag us and use the hashtag #PardeeLACostumeContest.
Jack-o’-lantern’s are a Halloween icon. Coordinate with your neighbors to decorate pumpkins outside while safely distancing in front or back yards at a designated time. Here’s a great source of inspiration for pumkineers big and small. Share some spooky stories while you carve ‘em up!
Or, gather close friends, family and neighbors on the spacious lawn at The Lookout, maintaining at least 6 feet of safe distance.
Your home is filled with places to hide goodies for little monsters to find during a scavenger hunt. Create a treasure list of Halloween-themed gifts and candy for them to look for around the house, inside and out. Costumes mandatory!
Host a themed costume party on Zoom for friends and family. Show off those costumes and try out your best Dracula voice. Create a playlist and make it a monster mash! Here are some Zoomable backgrounds you can use to turn your beautiful home into something a little more…haunted.
Make some treats and throw on your favorite spooky movies. Use a projector to turn your backyard into a creep show. Or use Netflix Party to make it an event with friends and family. Here’s a collection of Halloween movie recommendations to watch with the gremlins.
Put the word out to neighbors to have a socially distanced costume contest. Halloween “boo bags” filled with treats or toys can be lined up at the edge of yards for little zombies to snatch. Decorate bikes, wagons, golf carts and strollers and really show off.
Don’t forget, upload your favorite photos, tag us @PardeeHomesLAVentura and use the hashtag #PardeeLACostumeContest. For extra fun with your neighbors, use #Skyline.
