According to a recent study by WalletHub, Santa Clarita is one of the top 25 healthiest U.S. cities to live in. This came as no surprise to the Skyline team. Santa Clarita is home to natural open spaces, community parks and hiking trails that inspire all residents to get outdoors and live an active lifestyle. Read on to learn more about what makes Santa Clarita, including Skyline, one of the healthiest places to live.

Green Space
The WalletHub study took many factors into consideration when ranking the healthiest cities. Out of 174 cities, Santa Clarita ranked No. 6 for green space. This category took into account parkland acres per capita, physical activity access, the quality of parks, and the hiking, running and walking trails per capita. It’s easy to see why Santa Clarita earned this ranking. After all, the city has nearly 12,000 acres of preserved open space and 34 beautiful parks. Anyone up for a picnic?

Walkability
When it comes to walking trails per capita, Santa Clarita ranked No. 5, which puts it just after big cities like San Francisco (No. 1) and Seattle (No. 4). Skyline is proud to be part of a community that values fitness, healthy living and spending time in nature. The community hiking trails at Skyline stretch for more than 2 miles, connecting you to neighbors and even more trails surrounding the hillside.

Healthy Homes at Skyline
All homes at Skyline come equipped with our LivingSmart® program that contributes to the overall health and wellness of your family. This includes HealthSmart® features that work behind the scenes to make sure your home is as healthy as possible. All Pardee homes use low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) interior paint, water-based wood finishes, caulking and adhesives to help you breathe easy. Plus, a sealed combustion furnace and a central vacuum system help whisk away allergens and keep indoor air quality at healthy levels.

Sometimes, living in an older home can come with health risks as a result of having been built with less than healthy building practices. This is not the case at Skyline, where new homes are built with the highest building standards and follow up-to-date construction codes. They’re also designed with EarthSmart® features such as engineered wood products that help preserve our forests, optional solar power systems and built-in recycling areas in the kitchens.

Healthy Community Features at Skyline
Set atop a hill surrounded by acres of open space, Skyline is both naturally beautiful and health-conscious. At the heart of the community, Skyline’s amenity center, The Lookout, offers a breathtaking space to swim, play, work out and take in the views of the Santa Clarita Valley. And in your backyard are miles of hiking trails that connect to even more public trails, making it easy to go outside and explore every day. Living close to nature is a major health benefit – in fact, spending time in nature has been proven to help relieve stress and improve your overall mental health.
